Funeral services for Betty L. Phelps, 69, of Chamberlain, SD will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain with burial at a later date. Visitation will begin Friday at 5:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.
Betty Lynn Krumrei was born May 13, 1950 to Wayne and Miriam (Dell) Krumrei at Sioux Falls, SD. She was raised on farms near Harrisburg and later in Crooks before the family moved to Sioux Falls. She attended school in Sioux Falls graduating from Washington High School. Betty was united in marriage to Robert Phelps and to this union two children were born Becky and Brenda.
Betty worked as a CNA on the Rehab Unit at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD. After her retirement she moved to Chamberlain to be near family.
Her whole family was very musical. Betty loved marching band and was first chair clarinet. She loved her bears and always enjoyed a diet coke and burnt hot dog. She loved being on the water in the pontoon with good friends Pat Harmon and Vickie Smith and riding the 1880 Train in Hill City. She also enjoyed watching KELOLAND news. As a child, Betty loved the vacations with her family to Arnold's Park at Okoboji and later in life she continued going there with her children.
Betty passed away on November 12, 2019 at Firesteel Nursing Home in Mitchell, SD at the age of 69 years. Gratefully sharing her life are her two daughters Becky (Tim) Johnson and Brenda Ebright all of Chamberlain; a grandson Mitchell (Raytonna) Old Lodge; great granddaughter Gabriella; two brothers Bill (Carol) Krumrei of Kansas City, MO and Gerry (Danette) Krumrei of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister Diane (Keith) Watkins of Fort Wayne, IN; special friends Vickie Smith and Pat Harmon; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
