Bernard Paul Grey Owl journeyed to the spirit world peacefully on the morning of July 16, 2021 at Sanford Hospitals Ava's House in Sioux Falls, SD. He was 71 years old and was the first born boy of ten children (two older sisters, three younger sisters, and four younger brothers).

He was born in Rosebud, SD to Patricia Irene Grey Owl and Virgil La Fortune of Highmore, SD on March 5th, 1950. He grew up in the Stephan and Highmore areas and was known as "Beep" to all his family and friends. He attended both Highmore and Stephan schools before graduating.

Beep worked for many ranchers in the area across the years and knew the value of a hard day's work. He had a tremendous love of horses and was a great horseman. Beep was also a bus driver with Crow Creek High School for 35 years. He enjoyed all his jobs and always offered a handshake and smile to everyone. In his retirement, he loved watching football and rodeos on television.

He was a devoted father and grandfather to his son, Weldon, and grandson, Kason. He was a kind and respectful person who had a big heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed help. He had a special ability to tease, joke and make friends wherever he went. He loved to spend time with family and friends. His friendship was a gift to all who knew him. He was always a person folks knew they could count on when needed.

Beep leaves behind his son, Weldon Comes Flying, his one and only grandson, Kason Comes Flying, and his lifelong companion, Phyllis Comes Flying, sisters Mary Brink of Vivian, SD and Beverly Carpenter of Rapid City, SD; two younger brothers Gerald and Greg and many other family and friends who loved him dearly.

Beep was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and Virgil; his grandparents John and Sophie Grey Owl of Stephan.; three sisters Genevieve Hunter of Huron SD, Charlotte (Grey Owl) His Gun of Pierre, SD Melvina (Grey Owl) Burger of Pierre, SD and two brothers Kenny LaFortune of Burlington, Iowa, and Richard Mills of Brookings, SD.

His horse is saddled and waiting for him. He will be greeted in heaven by his many family, relatives and friends that have passed on before him.
