Funeral services for Bernard P. Bad Moccasin Sr., 72, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 13, 2023 at the Fort Thompson Community Center in Fort Thompson, SD with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD.  Wake services will be Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Thompson Community Center in Fort Thompson.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday from the funeral home.

Bernard (Beach) Bad Moccasin, 73, of Fort Thompson, SD journeyed to the Spirit World on July 8, 2023 at the Sanford Nursing Home in Chamberlain.  Beach was born on June 14, 1951 in Fort Thompson, the son of Abel Bad Moccasin and Edith Philbrick.

Beach attended school at Pierre Indian School, high school at Flandreau Indian School and attended the United Tribes Education Center graduating in 1974 receiving a Cook certification.  He worked at various jobs in Fort Thompson as a cook. He helped at the annual Pow-wows.  He lived in Minneapolis for a year and returned home to Fort Thompson to live out his life with his family.  He enjoyed teasing his cousins and all the women he claimed to snag, and humorous times with his friends and relatives.  He loved his family, grandchildren, and his beloved wife Ethelreda Bad Moccasin.  Beach loved to dance at parties, the family reunions, and was the life of the party.

Surviving family members: sons Glyndon Bad Moccasin; Bernard Bad Moccasin Jr.; siblings Virginia Bad Moccasin, Shakopee, MN and Einar Bad Moccasin, Minneapolis, MN; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents Abel Bad Moccasin and Edith Philbrick; and beloved wife Ethelreda Bad Moccasin; siblings Robert Bad Moccasin Sr., Joseph Bad Moccasin Sr., Faith Vegas-Armenta, and Isadore Bad Moccasin.
