Funeral services for Benny Guest, 18, of Kennebec, SD will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2025 at the River Hills Fellowship in Chamberlain.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at River Hills Fellowship in Chamberlain.

On January 12, 2025, Benny passed peacefully in his sleep in the comfort of his home in Kennebec, SD.

Benjamin Steven Thomas Guest was born June 27, 2006, to Karen Gilman and Benjamin Guest Sr. He was best known as Benny or Boo-Boo. Benny attended the Chamberlain School District where his smile and laugh was contagious to all around him. He absolutely loved going to school and seeing his teachers and friends each day.

Growing up, Benny enjoyed being outside, swimming, fishing, and sitting around the bonfire laughing with family and friends. Most of all, Benny enjoyed spending his time with those who loved him. He loved books, puzzles, cards, tablets, and time on ABCya. There was never a time when Benny wasn't up to play some "cames." He had an old love for Minions, which he had the opportunity to meet on his Make-A-Wish trip to Universal Studios with his family. He also loved a good nap, which he referred to as "sleepy couch." Benny lived by the motto- dance like nobody's watching. He loved all music, and especially loved listening to "Mountain of the Lord" with his dad each morning.

Despite many different medical challenges with Prader-Willi Syndrome, Benny was the smartest and wittiest boy you would ever meet. He overcame all obstacles that came his way with strength and resilience, including the dreaded "Happy Birthday Song." At school, you could find Benny working on many different life skills. One of his favorite jobs was going to do mail and earning a mint from the office upon completion.

Grateful for sharing his life are his parents, Karen Gilman and Benjamin Guest (Angelique Hickey); his siblings, Kori Soulek (Nephew Ren Soulek), Madison Guest, Riddick Pease, Aspen Hickey, Julian Hickey, Mikaya Hickey, and Ethan Guest; Grandmothers: Wanda Parent, Sherry Champagne, and Gale Kleven (Nidal Saba); Grandfathers: Steve Guest (Jenny Wayrynen) and Clyde Gilman; Special Aunt and Uncle Kerry and Clayton Waugh ("Uncle Cupcake"); and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to the love Benny received from his family, he was blessed to receive love from Angelique's family, who loved him as their own.

Preceding Benny in death are Great-grandfathers: Thomas Parent, Wallace Norman, George Guest, and James Kleven; and Great-grandmothers: Darlene Norman, Donna Gilman, Donna Guest, and Patricia Kleven.
