"For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down, we will have a house in Heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands." 2 Corinthians 5:1 NLT

Barbara Jean Weber, 61, of Chamberlain, SD passed away on November 16, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain.

Barbara Jean was born January 28, 1964 to Archie Welch Sr. and Mary (Savoy).  She was born and raised in Winona, MN.  There she attended grade school and most of high school. At the age of 18, she dropped out of school and moved to Texas for a short time.  Later returning to Winona to attain her GED.  She worked various jobs including delivering newspapers to working at the Watkins Factory.

She was united in marriage to Shawn Weber in 1984 and to that union two children were born Peter and Michelle.  The two divorced in 1989 and Barb moved to Cheyenne, WY for a short time before making Chamberlain, SD her home in 1996.  There she met Perry Foltz and the two had a son Hunter.

She worked various jobs in the area including Missouri Valley Outlet, Bel-Aire Motel, Main Street Café (Anchor Grille), Sunset Valley/Mid-Dakota/Sioux Valley which was later Sanford Care Center and most recently working at Prairie View Assisted Living in Kimball.

She worked in the nursing field for approximately 25 years.  Some of her titles include CNA, CMA, and CNA Coordinator.  She poured her heart out in the care she gave.  She had such compassion and only wanted the best for the ones she cared for.

Some of her hobbies included fishing, pool, bowling, bingo, darts, collecting eagle and angel figurines, working in her yard, doing something in her house, enjoying a Bud Light, and playing video lottery.

One of her proudest moments was becoming a grandma.  Whether you knew her as "Barbie", "Curly", or some co-workers called her grandma Barb, she seemed to always give you a nickname back also.  She will always be remembered for her signature curly hair and long nails (especially her thumb and pinky).  Whether she was whistling at you, waving at you from afar, or saying "You betcha!", she always seemed to make you smile with her quirkiness.

Gratefully sharing her life are her children Peter Weber (fiancée Stacy Lauseng) of Sioux Falls, SD, Michelle (Cody Sharping) of Kellogg, MN, and Hunter Foltz of Chamberlain, SD; two grandchildren Jaxon and Nickolas; a nephew Jeff Welch of Winona, MN; two nieces Alisha Welch and Amanda LeGrave all of Winona, MN; and a great aunt to seven: Ethan, TJ, Julian, Jaxon, Macy, Koral, and Kaylee; and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents Archie Welch Sr. and Mary Welch; a sister Tammy Welch, and an infant son Perry Foltz Jr.

"As for me and my family, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15 NLT
