Services for Arthur J. Surrounded 74, of Fort Thompson will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Diamond Willow Ministries in Fort Thompson with burial the Lakeview Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD.  Wake will begin at 10 am on Tuesday at Diamond Willow Ministries in Fort Thompson, SD.

Arthur James Surrounded Sr. was born on January 17, 1947 to Marie Keeble and Eugene Surrounded.

In 1980 he married Goldie (Little Eagle) Surrounded. They had two children, Arthur James Surrounded Jr. and Jennifer Surrounded. He also inherited three children, 14 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Art started work at Swift Horse Lodge in 1992. He worked as a drug and alcohol counselor +for 17 years. He also worked in Mission, SD with the elderly and with the Little Loop alcohol program in Mission.

Art enjoyed working on vehicles. He played in a band called Ventures. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to his oldie's music. He enjoyed so many things in his life, his counselor job, spending time with his grand kids, and the Bible studies with Jehovah's Witnesses.

Art was a very kind man who will be greatly missed by his family. After he became handicapped, he was a lonely person.

Arthur Surrounded Sr. passed away on February 27, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain, SD at the age of 74 years.  He is survived by his wife Goldie Surrounded, daughters Jennifer Surrounded of Fort Thompson and Cynthia Packard of Sioux Falls, his grandchildren Aaliyah Walking Bull, Jeremy Packard, Jonathan Packard, Jolene Packard, Joseph Packard IV, Jesse Packard, Nikki Packard, Michelle Packard, Rachel Packard, Angel Drapeau, Kyle Blue Bird, Skyler Blue Bird, Arnetta Packard, Ricky Wounded Knee, Ericka Wounded Knee, Mark Stengal, sister Audrey Surrounded of Pierre, SD, Grace Hopkins of Chamberlain, SD, Rosemond of Seattle, WA, nephews Dennis Wounded Knee of Fort Thompson, Justin Wounded Knee of Pierre, SD, and all his great-grandchildren.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, grandchildren Emanuel Blue Bird, Marcus Packard Jr., Joseph Packard III, Marcus Packard Sr., and his son Arthur James Surrounded Jr.
