Funeral services for April Pretty Sounding Flute, 50, of Lower Brule, SD will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD with burial in the Holy Comforter Episcopal Cemetery at Lower Brule.  Wake services will be Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD.

April Beth Pretty Sounding Flute was born April 20, 1971 to Virgil Pretty Sounding Flute and Isabell Drum at the Community Bailey Hospital in Chamberlain.  April attended school at Stephan, SD and also in Lower Brule, SD.

April liked to have fun in her younger years.   She was a Grass dancer and one hell of one at that.  She loved to Pow-Wow.

In 1990, April met Hernan Mejia and on December 21, 1992, a daughter Isabell was born.  Later she met Ronald Erickson and on August 12, 1997, a son DJ was born.  She worked various jobs throughout her life.

She liked to visit with family and friends. She liked to laugh and have a good time.  When she got the chance, she liked to travel.  She lived in various places from Kansas, Iowa, and throughout South Dakota.  She loved to do arts and crafts especially with her grandbabies.

April loved the holidays and decorating her house and collecting knick-knacks but most of all spending time with her grandbabies.

April passed away on November 8, 2021 at home in Lower Brule, SD at the age of 50 years.  Gratefully sharing her life are her children Isabell Whitney and DJ Pretty Sounding Flute; grandchildren Tayshia, Landon, Benson, and Alura; sisters Charlotte Pretty Sounding Flute, Esther Pretty Sounding Flute, Jennifer Hunt, Carrie Flute-Lunn, Amanda Pretty Sounding Flute; brothers Charles Pretty Sounding Flute and Dave Pretty Sounding Flute; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, her parents, a brother Christopher Pretty Sounding Flute and a sister Baby Girl Pretty Sounding Flute.
