Annie Goos, passed away after her battle with cancer at the age of 77 on Monday June 30, 2025.

Annie was born on May 27, 1948 to Ernest Holzhauser and Betty (Wannamaker) Hansler at a farm house near White Lake SD.  Annie grew up in Vivian and she met the love of her life Pete at a Kennebec dance, they were married June 19, 1967. They got to spend 55 years together until Pete passed away January 29, 2023.  They had four children: two sons, Stacey and Jim, and two daughters, Misty and Marcey.

She loved to watch birds eat and drink from their perfectly manicured feeders and baths.  Her favorites birds were the woodpeckers, cardinals, and bluejays.

Annie was known for her baking and cooking skills. She used her talent at various jobs as a cook throughout her life. She got many requests from family members for their favorite dish, from cinnamon rolls to ribs and sauerkraut. She even made stuff that she didn't like good. She made sure everyone including Pete, her kids, and grandkids were all well fed.

Annie could turn any house into a home; she had a talent for creating things out of nothing.   You knew it was Annie's home when you walked in (might have had something to do with watermelons and butterflies everywhere you looked!)  She loved to paint, work in the woodshop with her dad, and sewing blankets.

Here are a few things you may or may not know about Annie, in her own words: "My favorite color is green. I was named after my great grandma Wannamaker. My favorite soda is Pepsi. I don't like my picture taken or being told what to do.  I can't swim and water scares me. I'm afraid of heights. The prettiest state I've been to was Utah. The mountains are pretty, but I'm a flat-lander. I don't like staying away from home for long. I never turn the TV off. I'd rather stand and work than sit and work. I enjoy my morning coffee and my 4:00 coffee. Supper is usually my best meal of the day. My favorite food for supper is ribeye steak with baked potato. My favorite dessert is a good pie. I believe butterflies are angels and the bald eagle is your dads sign."

Most of all, Annie loved her family above all else. She gave her entire life to those she loved, putting others before herself.

It's been a long two years for Annie without Pete. But that separation has come to an end.

Thank you Annie for the life you have given to so many and the love you showed us. We return that love to you now as we gather in honor of you.

Annie is survived by her children Jim (Sandra) Goos of Kennebec SD, Misty (Travis) Thompson of Fort Hail Bottom, Marcey (Jason) Urban of Kennebec SD, along with 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; Brother Butch Holzhauser of Montana, Karen Hoyt of Mobridge  SD, Connie Sulivan of Fort Pierre SD and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Annie was preceded in death by her infant son Stacey; Great grandson Riley James Goos; Parents Roy and Betty Hansler and Ernie and Irene Holzhauser.
