Funeral services for Alberta I. Gayton, 55, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson, SD with burial in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery at Big Bend, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday from the funeral home.

Alberta Irene "Booze" Gayton was born February 23, 1968 to Clifford A. Hawk and Julia D. Gayton at Pierre, SD.  She was raised in the Pierre and Fort Pierre area.  She was united in marriage to Tony Big Eagle and to that union a daughter LaTony Marie Big Eagle was born.

Alberta lived in Dickinson and Mandaree North Dakota where she made many friends whom she loved as family.  After her parents passed she returned to the Pierre area.

She always enjoyed a social lifestyle and made lifelong friends.  She especially loved her siblings and was always looking to help when needed.  Always wanting to give was her kind and generous nature.  She enjoyed fixing hair and make up and doing different clothing styles.  She was very active and loved music, dancing and social events with family and friends.

Alberta entered the Spirit World on September 30, 2023 at her home in Fort Thompson, SD at the age of 55 years.  She leaves behind her daughter LaTony Marie and wife of Pierre, SD; siblings Robyn Hawk of Lodge Pole, MT, Ronda Hawk Fort Thompson, SD, Roxie Hawk of Fort Thompson, SD, Kristal Hawk of Fort Thompson, SD, Kirk Hawk of Bell Plain, MN, Jackie Big Eagle of Sioux Falls, SD, Arliss Hawk of Seattle, WA, Carmen Hawk of Pierre, SD, Alvin Hawk of Parshall, ND; aunts and uncles Melvin Hawk, Rozelle Hawk-Lockwood, Velsworth Hawk, William Hawk, Ray Hawk, Dormalee Hawk-Pease, Delilah Hawk,; Grandparents; Irene (Middletent) Hawk of Big Bend SD, Albert George Hawk Fort Thompson, SD; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her siblings Jay Hawk, Camille Hawk, and Emily Big Shield, aunts and uncles Earl Hawk, Sherwood Hawk, Jeanne Hawk, Alvin Hawk, Myrna Hawk-McDaniels, Rose Marie Hawk.
