Funeral services for Aksel K. "Konnie" Olson, 78, of Fort Thompson, SD will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lake Norden, SD. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to services.  Burial will be at 5:00 p.m., Saturday June 1, 2024 in the Riverview Cemetery in Chamberlain, SD.

Aksel Konrad "Konnie" Olson was born September 14, 1945 to Archie and Lena (Stewart) Olson at Miller, SD.  He was raised in the Fort Thompson area and attended school in Gann Valley, SD.

Konnie entered the U.S. Army in 1965 serving during the Vietnam War and received an Honorable Discharge in 1967.  On December 26, 1965, Konnie was united in marriage to Emelia Nylund.  They made their home in Fort Thompson.  He was employed with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Fort Thompson from 1984 until retirement in 2006.

His hobbies included farming and raising cows, mechanics, fishing, and visiting with friends, family and people.  He was very honored to have great great grandchildren that he was able to watch grow.

Konnie was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Lake Norden, SD.

Konnie passed away on May 29, 2024 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain, SD.  Gratefully sharing his life are his wife Emelia of Fort Thompson, children John (Elaine) Olson and Serena (Terry) Abernathy both of Fort Thompson, his grandchildren Daniel and Tianna, Preston, Tony & Amber, Justin and Alisha, Ethan & Adrienne, Alexis and Anthony, Johnwayne and Jasmine, Austin, Adrian, great grandchildren Shiloh, Aksel, Kya, Bentley, Cleo, Hudson, Kenya, Zoey, Brooklyn, Bay, Halle, Maisie, Steven, Mylon, Maggie, Windon, Theodore, Claira, Silas, Anna Mae, Emily Joann, and Lucille Helen, great great grandchildren Remy Allen, Brinsley Grace, Lashya, Lucy, Demarco, Adrianna, and baby on the way Dallas Serena Marie, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Konnie joins in Heaven his grandparents Aksel and Olga Olson, parents Archie and Lena Olson, and a brother Leo Edward Olson.
