Funeral services for Adella Mae Mohr, 86, of Reliance, SD will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain, SD with burial in the Reliance Cemetery at Reliance, SD. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain, SD.
Adella Mae Schelske was born September 21, 1935 to Esther and Adolph (Burkardt) Schelske at home. She attended grade school at the Hieb Country School and High School at Reliance where she graduated in 1953. After high school, she went to work at St. Joe Indian School in Chamberlain. On August 21, 1954 Adella was united in marriage to Gerald (Jerry) Vode Mohr (the first couple to be married at the new Trinity Lutheran Church in Reliance). Jerry went to the service and they moved to Washington state for a short time so many wonderful memories of that time. They moved in an old house to Lyman in 1964 remodeld and made their home for 57 years. During this time they had a dairy, beef cows farmed and ranched. Adella enjoyed being a member of the Lyman Loyal Ladies Club and the Legion Auxiliary. She was the treasurer of the Rex Township for years. Her faith kept her going through good and bad times, being a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Reliance from birth and loved the ladies LWML.
Adella passed away on November 18, 2021 at Sanford Long Term Care Facility in Chamberlain at the age of 86 years. Gratefully sharing her life are her husband Jerry of 67 years, son Greg V Mohr of Pierre, SD, Grandson Levi Mohr (Miranda Deyo) of Pierre, and Great Grandson Noah. Granddaughter Caitlin Mohr (Aaron Le) with Great granddaughters Ellie Mohr and Charlie Le of Pierre, SD. Daughter Gayle V Mohr and husband Chris Eymer, grandsons Conrad Mohr-Eymer and Corwin Mohr-Eymer of Reliance. Son Garet V Mohr and (Deb Fickett) of Aberdeen, SD. Randall George who lived with Adella and Gerald for a time and was like a third son. Survived by her brother Ralph and wife Gina of Chamberlain, Sisters Connie Surat (her late husband Lowell) of Reliance, Karen and Steve Gunter of Piedmont, Dee and Steve Fletcher of Sioux Falls. Preceding her in death were her parents Esther and Adolph brother Louis and wife Cleo, maternal grandparents Catherine and Ludwig Burkardt, paternal grandparents Mary and Ed Schelske, sister-in-law Janice. Brother and Sister in Laws: Gene and Helen Mohr, Randy and DeeVonne Whitlock, Denise, and Mardelle.
